Journalist Arlety González Chile is among the 24 contestants vying for the renowned Miss Universe Cuba 2024 pageant, an event returning after a 57-year absence. Beyond her career, her participation symbolizes a lifelong dream. Proudly representing the province of Cienfuegos, Arlety stands out for her commitment and dedication to her community.
Born in Havana, Cuba, she lived there until her adolescence. At age 13, she emigrated to Miami, Florida, where she earned her Associate of Arts degree in Mass Communication from Miami-Dade Honors College. Her ambition and talent led her to the prestigious Syracuse University in New York, where she graduated in Broadcast and Digital Journalism.
Since 2016, her professional career has flourished at Telemundo. She began in Arizona, working as a weekend news reporter and anchor. In 2019, she joined the Telemundo Houston team, taking on similar roles before moving to Florida, where she stood out as a national correspondent for the network’s morning show “Hoy Día”.
“Nothing fills me with greater pride than going anywhere and saying that I am Cuban. Just imagine now being able to make it to Miss Universe, not representing myself, but representing all Cubans around the world! Each of the 24 candidates represents a Cuban province, region, or community abroad, and they will compete in various events and activities, showcasing their skills and commitment to social causes in pursuit of the coveted crown. The coronation event will take place on September 26 in Miami, Florida, an iconic city for the Cuban community.
