Renowned journalist and television host Erick Cuesta turned heads on the magenta carpet at “Premio Lo Nuestro” last Thursday, February 22, wearing an impeccable suit designed by the talented Samy Gicherman. With more than a decade of experience, Erick is known for his understated and elegant style, and this time was no exception.
Cuesta is the face of the “Reto Economía” segment, broadcast on “La voz de la mañana” through VIX, the streaming platform of the Univisión network. Erick brings the best in economy and finance content, as well as savings solutions, to the audience, which is why this collaboration with the designer came about naturally. The wardrobe concept was based on the process of “upcycling”, which involves modifying an old garment to give it a second life, without the need for an industrial process. A work of art featuring hand-inlaid black, silver, and red stones was brought to life on Erick’s suit, enhancing his poise with a great touch of distinction.
Samy Gicherman is recognized for his exquisite haute couture and stunning designs that stand out in the display windows of his atelier in Miami. Recently, the designer ventured into creating a line of accessories using the “upcycling” process, including his famous jackets, which have become a sensation. Erick couldn’t be left behind, so he sought out the designer to bring his idea to life and use this fashion trend as a vehicle for his purpose of informing his audience and helping their wallets.
“I must confess that I felt a bit nervous wearing this outfit on the red carpet of ‘Premio Lo Nuestro’, as I’m not used to wearing something so eye-catching, which is why I called it ‘Challenge PLN’. I’m grateful to Samy Gicherman and his immense talent for transforming and bringing this suit, which had been in my closet for over 8 years, to life, and in the end, it made me feel radiant,” commented Cuesta.
The collaboration between the designer and the journalist highlights both of their creativity and innovation, and underscores their commitment to sustainable fashion and reinventing garments, this time with Erick Cuesta as the canvas.
