The Office of the Mayor and New York City Mayor Eric Adams present the group Proyecto Uno with an arts recognition, as part of the celebration of their 35-year career.
During a successful performance in Central Park, the centerpiece of this recognition took place as part of the SummerStage concert series in “the Big Apple.” While the group was performing, there was a pause during which the host announced the proclamation, in recognition of the group’s career and in appreciation of its contribution to the city’s culture through music.
The honor took the group by surprise, since, as we know, Proyecto Uno was founded in New York City in 1989. “For me, this performance is very special, because it literally means coming back home, to where it all began for the group. Our roots were planted there, and returning after quite some time without performing in this venue has immense value,” commented Nelson, the founder.
In 2024, Proyecto Uno continues its concert tour across Latin America, with stops in countries such as Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, as well as the cities of Chicago and Los Angeles in the United States. At the same time, they are selecting and preparing new material for the coming year.
